Macau Trip: Macau Peninsula

Macau consists of the Macau Peninsula itself, the islands of Taipa(which houses the Macau International Airport) and Coloane. The best way to explore Macau is on foot. From the ruins, a short walk up the nearby hill will lead you to Mount Fortress, which was once part of the city's defences against inveders, and has one of the best views of the city.

Because Macau was once a Portuguese colony, almost all the road and building signs are in Portuguese as well as Chinese. However, the main languages spoken in the city are Cantonese and Mandarin, with English spoken only at tourist destinations.


St. Dominic's Church is a Catholic church in the former Portuguese colony of Macau, now a special administrative region in China.


Macau is determined to be just as bright as Las Vegas. And with hotels and casinos like the Lisboa, MGM Grand Macau, Wynn, Four Seasons, The Venetian, it definitely comes close.
